What's been putting the sand in my jocks in recent months? Incompetence.
How's that float your boat?! It is everywhere. Every corner you turn, every job you do, every industry you work in. It doesn't matter - they walk amongst us….. Yet the most incompetent individuals who hide behind their own inefficiencies and mistakes complain about the incompetence of others - the ultimate oxymoron!

Bogan's Rant - With Michael McShane - March 2016

I am sure not alone to say 2015 was tough for the majority of miners, explorers and associated service providers! I've been having a chin wag to many people over the last few months about the state of the industry and gain wide ranging views from various company sizes, commodities and geographic spread. When people say "I reckon" 2016 will be a better year, I get a little bemused and my right eye twitches! You know, "I reckon" I should try crystal meth, then think, nah, better not!

What's twisted my jocks lately is the severe lack of communication between HR and Line Managers when it comes to recruitment expectations. I'm bang on track here and could enter into a tirade citing 7 specific examples over the past 6 weeks, but I'll restrict it to a few.

IT'S GOOD TO HAVE OPTIONS! When I open the beer fridge, it always takes a while to make the choice – a scratch of the head, adjust the crotch and begin the process of elimination. Discount the light beer that tight a*se mate brought over, but drank your heavies – remove all of the “B’s” (EB, VB, MB) and you should be in a position to make a choice!

Bogan's Rant - With Michael McShane - April 2015

Although air contains 21% oxygen at all altitudes, low pressure at high altitude makes it feel like there is a lower percentage of oxygen, so at over 5,600m it felt like we had 10% effective oxygen – that’s >50% less! No wonder it was hard to breathe. Do you feel like this at sea level? Are there oxygen thieves robbing you of career / business opportunities or simply energy vampires that sap your energy and enthusiasm?
